SitusAMC Power Pro: Priscilla Wilkinson

Name: Priscilla Wilkinson, HR Professional
Title: VP, Human Resources Business Partner
Office: Atlanta, Georgia

Day-to-day: I’m a human resources partner for the SitusAMC Asset Management business group. In my role, I focus on HR management and employee relations. A lot of what I do is really just encouraging employees and helping them along in their careers. I give them insight into available opportunities and point them to resources for training and professional growth. I’m also the HR sponsor for SitusAMC’s Women's Empowerment Network.

Finding my path: I’ve been in HR for around 30 years, and here at SitusAMC for 11-1/2 of those years. It feels like I’ve done something in HR forever! I used to work for a pharmaceutical company and an old manager of mine saw how I loved interacting with others and geared me toward HR.

My turning point: At 52, I lost my sister Mary. She encouraged me unconditionally. She used to always say to me, “You’re so much more than you realize.” I really wish I had listened earlier. I started to take that to heart after her passing. I mean, I did things before my 50s but that was when I really realized that I could be more, that I was more.

A brave new beginning … at 50: I recently made a post on SitusAMC’s Move the Chain forum where I shared a list of things that I’ve done since turning 50. I called it “my becoming.” I wanted to encourage other women to forget about age and just go for it. At 52, I started a nonprofit for women. At 58, I graduated from college with my bachelor’s degree. I’ve been zip lining in the jungle in Mexico. I’ve even jumped off a boat despite being terrified of the ocean. We can do and be whatever we want. It takes hard work and some pushing through, but you can do anything – especially with the right support.

My biggest inspiration: I have been blessed over the years to have had some outstanding women bosses who’ve opened doors for me. They’ve encouraged and inspired me and that’s what I want to be able to do for others.

Finding joy in purpose: In my spare time, I run a nonprofit for women. I find my gifts line up with being an encourager and mentor, so I work with a lot of single moms trying to help them find their purpose and get ahead. I focus on providing them with necessary resources as well as skill-building for jobs. I’m passionate about helping them find their voice and letting them know that the sky's the limit. They don’t have to allow themselves to be defined by the term, “single mom.”

Exploring new places: I started a travel social group last year, which I love! It was after my divorce and I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I submitted a request on a Delta site looking to connect with other women who wanted to do day trips and it has soared ever since. We fly to a city, have lunch, sightsee and fly back home. So far, we’ve been to Austin, New York, Fort Lauderdale and Chicago. We’ll be going to New Orleans later this year.

What motivates me: My faith – that’s where I go.

My next adventure: I’m expanding my travel group to include small retreats centered around different topics. The first one will be a three-day trip to the West Coast that will happen sometime next year. The topic will be “finding your voice.” After that, another item on my bucket list is skydiving.
